Dr. Martin Schofield. I know he died during the war, presumably away from home in Missouri as 
there aren't records I can find of him buried near Marion county. I wish I knew when, where, how 
he died. If you ever see him, let me know.

Posted February 22, 2009 Benjamin DeVorss was an orphan from St. Joseph, Buchanan Co., MO, who bounced around with relatives until he enlisted in MO in the Union Army. I found his record of death but cannot find out where he was buried. There is a Civil War record for Benjamin Davorce/Divorce. He served for the Union in the 35th Missouri Infantry. Film Number M390 roll 11, and M390 roll 12. This regiment was organized at Benton Barrack, MO, Dec. 3, 1862. Garrison Duty at Helena, Arkansas, and mustered out June 28, 1865. The regiment lost 2 officers, 8 enlisted men killed and 2 officers and 234 enlisted men by disease. MISSOURI SECRETARY OF STATE ARCHIVES: Divorce, Benjamin, age 18, Pvt. Co., E. Captain Linville, enlisted Aug. 1862 St. Joe, MO, mustered in Sept. 30, 1862 B Brks., MO. Died Nov. 25, 1863 at Helena Ark. Email direct at:

Posted February 22, 2009 My gggrandfather Frederick L.Schoburg/Schouborg lived in Taney County Missouri with h is wife Agnes and children. He enlisted in NY 1st Mounted Rifles, 25 yrs. old on 10/1/1861-NY/Ny as a private "A" company. He was listed as prisoner of war 9/9/1862, Would like to find out where, and was mustered out 6/1/1865 at Fredericksburg, Va. I heard that he died soon after from treatment he suffered as a P.O.W. Posted February 22, 2009 I'm searching for headstones for : Brothers: John S. Wilson born April 1844, in MO; died April 1928 buried in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Buffalo, Dallas County, MO - Sgt in 1st MO Cav in company I from 61-64 and company A from 64-65. Joseph S. Wilson born August 1846 in MO, died Feb 1917 buried in Carterville Cemetery, Carterville, Jasper County, MO. Private in 16th Reg MO Cav, Co L And my Great great grandfather, Christian G. Fisher born in Germany April 1843, served in the 72nd Ohio Volunteer Infantry from October 1861- December 1864. He lived in MO from after the war until his death in June 1908. He is buried in the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery, Henry County, MO (near Clinton) Email direct at:

Posted February 24, 2009 Searching for my 2nd Great-Grandfather, Samuel C. Farmer (at times went by S.C. Farmer) from the Atlanta area of Macon County, MO. I’ve a written statement from his son that Samuel “Was Killed During the War” but no other details. The Family seems to have been split between North and South; Sam’s brother Nathan J. Farmer served in the EMM and then towards the end of the war the 42nd MO. Vol. Infantry. I’ve exhausted all the sources I know about, including the Newspaper Archive at the Univ. of Missouri.
