FEBRUARY
Seeking information on William B. Clay, born in Giles County, Virginia in 1818 Married to
Malvina Harman, born 1817. They were married on January 6, 1837 in Tazewell County,
Virginia. Their 5 Children were David P. Clay, born 1849, Rebecca Clay, Born 1851,
Pricilla Clay, born 1853, John Clay born 1857 and Wiliam Zach T. Clay born in 1859.
He moved to Missouri in 1850. He served in the Civil War for the Confederates. I did
some kind of verification that this is the same William Clay that enlisted in Company B,
5th Missouri Cavalry from Davies County, Missouri. If you can find any of the information
that I'm requesting it might give me a better chance of getting into the UDC. The only
records that I have received reports him as missing during the raid on Missouri from
August 29tn through December 2nd, 1864. He was with Shelby's Brigade.

Trying to find information about Bennett Murray. He joined the Fremont Ranger on August 8, 1861 in
Cape Girardeau, MO. He was mustered out of the Fremont Rangers on October 1, 1861 and mustered
into Missour State Militia on December 12, 1861 in Cape Girardeau, MO. I find very little information
about the Missouri State Militia. I have found out that he was activated by the 56th Regiment of the
Enrolled Missouri Militia on April 30, 1864 in Cape Girardeau, MO. There is a note at the bottom of
the record that says, "Killed by guerriles after being ordered into service". His tombstone says he
died on July 3, 1864 by guerriles. My question is what was he doing between December 1861 to
July 1864.

A family book says that Benjamin Franklin Payne, my GGGrandfather was wounded at the battle of
Pea Ridge. I need to know what side he was on. Also the Maddox family shared property lines with
the James family in Karney Mo. The Maddox and McCorkle names are listed with the JAMES and
Quantrell exploits...Very interesting and I now have the "Geneology BUG". Any information would
be greatly appreciated.

I have a question, a friend of mine had twin relatives fight in the Civil war. I can't seem to uncover too
much on them. They are Col. William Ridgway Pennick USA and Col. William Robert Penick CSA.,
I have found that Ridgway was appointed Brigadier General after the war and was elected mayor of St
Joseph, Missouri. Robert was in Co E 5th Missouri Cav. and sometime he changed his name to
Pennrock. Does anyone have anything on these men.

I am looking for information on my gr-gr-gr-grandfather Isaac Ely. He was born June 20,
1827 in Missouri and died Sept. 7, 1919 in Hannibal, Marion Missouri. He was married
to Julieta Ann Elliot whom I believe died in 1909 in Ralls County Missouri. He served in
the 1st Northeast Regiment Missouri Cavalry (Confederate).
I believe this unit merged with the 2nd Cavalry and became the 7th Infantry Regiment.
I also read on another site that he was part of White's Company but have not found
any additional info on that. Any help or guidance would be greatly appeciated.

I’m searching for information about Co. B 46th Regiment MO. Infantry (Union).
My GG grandfather mustered in Sept. 7 1864 at Springfield.
Also seeking information about Co. H. 14th MO. Cavalry.(Union) My GG
grandfather also served in this unit 3-8-1864 until he mustered out with his
company at Leavenworth KS. 8-31-1865 as a Sargeant. Are there photos of
any of these units around?
My GG Grandfathers name was Reuben P. Day. He was in his early 40’s
during this time.
He had a son named William Day who I believe also served on the Union side,
although I’m not sure which unit.
