This regiment (with the exception of Company M), was organized in the state 
of Missouri at large, from Feb. 3 to April 8, 1862, to serve three years.  
Company M was organized at Lexington, Mo., August 22, 1863, to serve three 
years.  Companies A to L, inclusive, with the exception of the recruits, were 
mustered out by companies, at different dates, from Feb. 11 to April 14, 1865, 
by reason of expiration of term of service, and the recruits and Company M 
formed into a battalion of three companies and retained in service until 
July 7, 11, and 12, 1865, when it was mustered out.
