Contributed by: Roger Robertson In the Adjutant General's Office, Washington D.C., the following is recorded: State of Missouri, Town of Brunswick I, James F. Robertson, born in Breckinridge County in the State of Kentucky, aged forty years, and by occupation a farmer, do hereby acknowledge to have volunteered this 1st day of September, 1864, to serve as a Soldier in the Army of the United States of America for a period of one year unless sooner discharged by the proper authority. Do also agree to accept such bounty, pay, rations and clothing as are or may be established by law for volunteers, and, I, James F. Robertson, do solemnly swear I will bear true faith and allegiance to the United States of America and will serve them honestly and faithfully against all their enemies or opposers whomever and that I will observe and obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me according to the rules and Articles of War. Robertson was assigned as a Private in Company I, 49th Regiment, Missouri Infantry on roll at Macon, Missouri, dated December 17, 1864, with the following information: Born in Breckinridge County, Kentucky, age 40 years, occupation, farmer, enlisted September 1, 1864, at Brunswick, Missouri, for a period of one year, eyes blue, hair brown, complexion dark, height 5 ft 11 inches. |
